Internet and Online Games Addiction - 1839 Words
Introduction Playing games is a natural part of growing up. Itââ¬â¢s one way that kids learn to socialize and compete. Computer and online games, in most instances, are no more dangerous than other games that kids play. But sometimes, computer and online games become more than just play. They become an addiction. And when they become an addiction, your childââ¬â¢s psychological and physical well-being may be in jeopardy. Escaping into games When your kids play games online, is it play? Or is it something darker? Addiction to computer and online games is a real and growing problem. It affects both kids and adults. Often the most addictive games are the online multi-player games. They include role-playing, endless levels of achievement, and an IM orâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦Engage your children in regular conversations about their lives. Have dinner together every day. If they spend more than an hour a day in front of the computer, ask them whatââ¬â¢s going on. If their grades suffer or their friends stop calling, ask why. If you detect a problem or a behavioral change, address it immediately; donââ¬â¢t let it slide. If you detect addiction, address it. Limit computer time. Put the computer in a public area of the home. If the problem persists, perhaps you should seek professional psychological help. A gaming addiction is very similar to other addictions, such as drugs, alcohol, or gambling. Helping a child bea t the addiction may require expertise that a parent canââ¬â¢t provide. According to Dr. Douglas Gentile, Director of the Media Research Lab at Iowa State University and the director of research for the National Institute on Media and the Family, states, It is important that people realize that playing a lot is not the same thing as pathological play. For something to be an addiction, it has to mean more than you do it a lot. It has to mean that you do it in such a way that it damages your life.â⬠â⬠â⬠â⬠In other words, many, if not most, kids who play online games are just playing games. Itââ¬â¢s a healthy part of their life. If you see that game playing is becoming damaging to some aspect of their life, itââ¬â¢s time to act. William Shakespeare s Othello And Othello Essay - 1282 Words
Othello speaks to Iago in Act Three of the play saying, ââ¬Å"certain, men should be what they seemâ⬠(3.3.131). This excerpt foreshadow events in which Othello will begin to question the actions and morality of Cassio and Desdemona, all orchestrated by Iagoââ¬â¢s scheming nature. This is a very important concept to showcase because Othello devoutly loves Desdemona and trusts Cassio until conniving language from Iago causes him to think otherwise. Drawing on Shakespeareââ¬â¢s source story by Cinthio and other outside sources, textual information can be gathered to explore major concerns of ââ¬Å"Othelloâ⬠. Throughout this essay, I will present textual evidence from multiple sources examining the central concerns of the play, which include identity and revenge. One major grievance that is apparent from the playââ¬â¢s opening and continues to escalate throughout the play is identity, not in the sense of race, but mainly in the sense of reputation. Cassio and Othel lo share many similarities, revealed within Acts Two and Three of the play. Both, Othello and Cassio rely heavily on their reputations, an intangible aspect of identity. For Othello, his reputation is a sole concern because he is so different. Othello seeks to be remembered for all the things he did right and his good standing with the Signior as Majorie Garber, a Harvard professor, states, after the death of Desdemona Othello speaks saying ââ¬Å"when you shall see these unlucky deeds relate; speak of me as I amâ⬠(Garber, 615). Juvenile Bootcamps Essay - 1968 Words
Boot camp is an alternative to incarceration. In this paper I will prove that Boot Camps for youthful offenders are effective. Boot camps started in the year 1888 by Warden Zebulon Brockway at the Elmira Reformatory located in Elmira, New York. The warden did this because he wanted to invoke a new way of disciplining and keeping the inmates active. The reasoning that this style of imprisonment worked was because there were virtually no prison guards which saved thousands of dollars. Another reason that it worked was because the men would work day and night producing quality goods that were much less then the competitors. Yates Law prohibited the inmates from competing in the open market which eventually lead to the end of the militaryâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦They also have educational programs as well. Inmates that have not graduated from high school can prepare and take the test to receive their General Equivalency diploma. The cost to for boot amp inmates differs from state to state depending on the size of the facility. The average cost for housing an inmate for 90-120 days is about $4,205. The cost for housing an inmate who commits the same crime and is imprisoned for one year is about $21,000. It is much cheaper place a troubled youth into a boot camp rater then into a prison for a year. The reasoning for boot camps is complex. The theory of people committing crime is that they have free will. This is the classical view stating that every person makes a choice as to what they are going to do and why. If a person chooses to commit a crime they must be thinking that the benefits outweigh the pain. Holman and Quinn have stated: That is , human behavior is believed governed by external environmental circumstances and/or internal biological conditions. Free will is, therefore, and illusion. An example would be a starving person, living in abject poverty without hope of obtaining money or employment, who steals food. Although some would claim that this person still has the freedom to choose not to steal, a positivist would agree that she or he does not ââ¬â that such a person is forced into crime by circumstances. As such, this shall assist Mr. Z in determining the best investment opportunity in D- REIT since it yields the best possible value of S$1.90 without any monthly rentals paid. Here the assets are comprised of retail malls as well as office blocks. The following are the three vital recommendations, which can be formed in order to help Mr Z. The purchase of D-REIT securities, the yield after two successive years shall be 24%. In such a manner, the annual return for investment yields up to 12%. In such a manner, the Net book value of assets shall amount to 1.9M. In this regard, it can be said that the market is in a development phase and shall help the business enterprise in the development of the goals and the objectives of the business entity. As such, this shall be a profitable sector for investment for Mr. Z. The investment in D- REIT shall be offered 100% protection through the insurance. As such, this shall help to achieve profitability and growth in an intensely competitive market. The amount of return generated in the first year shall match with the expectations of Mr Z. As such, it shall be 12% in the first year. The return generated at the end of first years shall be 13%. The investment shall be made over a period of Two years in the accounting year. Smart et al. (2013) stated that the investment proposal should have to be analyzed to match with the expectations of the business entity. The free risk currency and the real estate operations shall help the business entity to attain the goals and the objectives of the business entity. The return due to the investment is dependent on the economy of the business entity. Garff (2013) stated that the productivity of the securities should depend on the economic condition of the consumers and the amount of market transactions in a particular period of time. Investment Merits There shall be certain high return of that shall have an impact on the operational policies of the business entity. The component of D-REIT shall have to state the operational strategies of the business entity. The net book value in the organization shall have be 1.90, which can be stated as substantial when compared to the other assets in the organization. Joehnk (2013) stated that the insurance companies that would protect the company in the case of any financial losses should protect the investment. The security of D-REIT shall be composed of various other factors that have an impact on the operational policies of the business entity. Graff (2013) stated that the global financial market would have to operate in a financially vulnerable market. As such, this shall have an impact on the operational policies of the business entity. The last transacted price is 1.80, which is considerably lower than the market price of the organization. Thus, this shall help Mr .Z to invest in a considerably lower market share. This shall serve the client in two ways. Titman and Martin (2014) mentioned that this should not have a negative impact on the inherent financial condition of the business entity. A existing dividend yield of 5.75% for the organization shall help Mr. Z to profit financially. Finally, the return on market share is substantial when compared to other shares in the global market. In addition, the security can be considered stable and it operates in the real estate market. As such, it is in a growth path and would provide regular returns over a period. Besides this, it has been a proven market security over a period. The real estate market has been on a upward growth spree and is a major contributor to the sales revenue of the organization. Thus, there have been a number of distinct advantages when investing in the securities of D- Riet. Investment Demerits Madura and Gill (2015) mentioned that every financial investment is subjected to certain market risk. As such, the amount of yield that can be achieved from investing in cannot be granted. As such, this can lead to financial losses for the business entity. In addition, the global financial market is in a strong market position. As such, this can lead to financial losses for the business enterprise. Titman and Martin (2014) mentioned that a vulnerable market condition could also have an influence on the operational policies of the business entity. Thus, it can be said that there are many disadvantages to the operational strategies of the business entity. Kalesnik (2014) mentioned that the investment opportunities should also depend on the external market condition of the business enterprise. As such, the factors are cost and the economic condition of the buyers. The investment opportunity offers the insurance protection as well as a higher rate of return. However, there are certain disadvantages. The investment shall require substantial investment of the monetary resources of the country. As such, this increases the level of risk that is associated with the business entity. Besides this, the investment could be done under a single portfolio that shall offer limited opportunities to the business organization. In addition, the investment would cater to a limited business segment, which restricts business growth for Mr. Z. Thus, Brigham and Houston (2012) noted that this is a pertinent issue in business growth and financial sustainability for Mr. Z. Thus, Mr Z has to consider these issues in the development of the goals and the objectives of the business entity. According to Dolvin et al. (2012) stated that the lack of stability in the market conditions should lead to the development of the goals and the objectives of the business entity. Thus, this shall have an impact on the business sustainability of the business entity. However, the nature of security shall have a considerable impact on the market sustainability of the business entity. References Brigham, E. F., Houston, J. F. (2012). Molecular Biology Neurodegenerative Disease
Question: Discuss about theMolecular Biologyfor Neurodegenerative Disease. Answer: Introduction In this research topic the role of autophagy in the neurodegenerative disease is investigated taking the mouse model C57BL/6j which must contain the GFP-LC3 transgene and also expresses GFPLC3. In this study an outline of the rationale for using mouse model C57BL/6j is performed. The light chain 3 (LC3) is a microtubule- associated protein which is widely used for the monitoring autophagy. This is an approach of detection of the conversion procedure of LC3 conversion from LC3-I to LC3-II by the process of analysis of the immunoblot. The reason behind this that the amount LC3-II is evidently interrelated with autophagosomes number. Many pathological and physiological processes involves the implication of the autophagy. However, autophagy degrades the LC3-II and makes an interpretation immunoblotting result of the LC3-II problematic (Black et al. 2014). Additionally, it sometimes happens that the quantity of the LC3 at a certain time point is not able to indicate the autophagic flux. C onsequently it becomes very important to measure the amount of the LC3-II that is delivered to the lysosomes and also a comparison should be made on the LC3-II levels in the conditions like the presence and absence of the lysosomal protease inhibitors. There is another problem exist with this method that is the LC3-II have a tendency to be more sensitive to be detected by the process of immunoblotting in comparison to the LC3-I (Lau et al. 20113). Among the all markers of the autolysosomes and autophagosomes the GFP-LC3 is the best known technique. In this method the green fluorescence tagged with the LC3 protein is utilized for the detection. The reason behind this that the techniques that are involving other markers can provide important snapshot of the autophagic compartments within the cells but they have some limitation in the capability to measure the autophagic activity rates. The autophagic activity is also known as the autophagic flux. One of the approach that is used for the elimination of this problem is the comparison of the markers GFP-LC3 or LC3-II in the condition of presence and absence of the lysosomal inhibitors (Sreelatha et al. 2013). The rationale of this experiment is that a stimulus will increases LC3 by the process of inducing autophagy and this will subsequently have increased effect when there is a disruption of the degradation by the inhibitors. On the other the blocking of this pathway causes accumu lation of the LC3 proteins. This is the best way for the assay of the autophagic flux (Weikel et al.2013). The process of the identification of the autophagic flux is very important to evaluate and distinguish between the induction and the suppression of the autophagy. The proposed autophagic flux assay is the western blot analysis for the detection of the GFP fragmentswhich are free and are resulting from the GFP-LC3 degradation inside the autolysosome. Though the accurate dynamics of the GFP-LC3 during the process of the autophagy is not very transparent and also the representation of this assay in mammalian cells is very inadequate. It is found here that the lysosomal acidity is a very essential regulating factor of the step wise degradation of the GFP-LC3. In this process the free GFP fragments are generated first but at the time of the lysosomal acidity is in a moderate condition the GFP fragments starts to accumulate. This moderate type of the condition of the lysosomal acidity can be achieved during the time of rapamycin treatment. It was found that the GFP fragments concentration is increased whenthere is the presence of the autophagy inhibitors like the E64D plus pepstatin A and chloroquine. The amount of the GFP fragments is dependent on the concentrations of these inhibitors (Yue et al. 2013). Early studies reveal that RAB7 plays a very important role and it is related to the fusion of the autophagosomes and with lysosomes. It has been confirmed that RAB7 perform the autophagic flux assays. By the process of the blocking off the lysosomal acidification. This the way in which chloroquine stabilizes the MAP1LC3B-II and also allows for the estimation of the autophagic flux. The therapeutic approaches that would you done to make the autophagic flux efficient in the disease mice or to reduce the efficiency of the autophagic flux. The autophagic flux is only produced due to the moderate condition of the lysosomal acidity. This lysosomal acidity is responsible for the autophagic flux. To block the autophagic flux the molecule RAB7 must be eliminated because the elimination of the RAB7 there occurs an accumulation of the chloroquine which stabilizes MAP1LC3B-II that is responsible for the increase in the autophagic flux (Zhang et al. 2014).
